4. Review Old Business
- Book Fair – Has left about $2100.00 on account with scholastic for our next fair. The membership voted to take the left over money from the book fair and divide it amongst the Moye teachers.
- Barnes and Noble – A Moye fundraising event will be held at Barnes and Noble on November 29 – December 1. Mrs. Burns will be at the store on Friday night at 7pm to read stories for the children. The store will offer us a free gift wrapping station where tips will be donated to the school as well. We discussed trying to schedule this event again for next year as well.
- Entertainment Book Sales – The decision was made to leave this on the calendar for next year. Next year’s PTO can decide whether they want to continue this event further.
- Committee Chair Info. – Kelly Cooper asked all chairpersons to be sure to submit their invoices and receipts by Friday November 16. She also reiterated that any changes to existing programs need to be discussed with a board member before they are implemented.
- Fire Dept. Thank You – This date had to be re-scheduled for November 27, Kelly will send out updated reminders to those who volunteered to help out with this event.
5. New Business
- Evening at Santa’s – This will be a new social event this year. We will have Santa, Mrs. Claus telling children’s stories, elves, cookie decorating, a station for writing letters to Santa, madrigal singers and other surprises. This event will be free and will take place on December 12 at Moye from 6-8pm.
- Peace Flags – These new flags will fly on each classroom’s door that has had a peaceful day. This means that no one has been sent to the office that day. If a grade goes through the day with all their flags up, they are given a point. After 10 peaceful days, their grade will receive a reward. The rewards are given in 10 day increments and include extra recess, snacks, hat days, a gym jam, and pizza party. All of this is part of a major reinforcement effort for good behavior that Kelly West is initiating this year.
- Do the Right Thing – Anyone can nominate a child that is seen doing “the right thing”. This character education program is running in conjunction with Channel 4 news. All children submitted will receive a special recognition package and may win an opportunity to be presented on Channel 4 news. The more information included on nomination form, the better the child’s chance for being chosen for this.
- Parent Survey for District 90 – Please submit any concerns, ideas, suggestions or input for the upcoming survey to Kathy Smitherman via e-mail.
- Budget Meeting – Our meeting on December 11 will be a very important one. Please e-mail any ideas you may have for spending our money to Kathy before this meeting.
