2007-08 Moye PTO
General Meeting

April 8, 2008 – 12:00pm Intermediate Art Room

1. Minutes from the March meeting were reviewed.  Julie Weiss motioned to approve the minutes, the motion was seconded and the minutes were approved by the membership.

2.   The Treasurer’s report was reviewed.  Gigi Spory motioned to approve the report; the motion was seconded and passed by the membership. 

  • Our CD that matured on 3/28 was renewed 5 months instead of one year due to a higher 5 month rate. 
  • Recommendations for additional expenditures were made for the purchase of xylophones, a button maker, funds to continue finishing the outdoor classroom and its patio, and for signs for the read & run marathon and spring fling.  The membership approved funding for these items.

3.  Committee Reports

  • The food drive is going great, and they will report back at next month’s meeting with a tally of our collections.
  • Book Fair – Set up will be on Friday at 2:00, family night will be on the 17th along with the GSWA art show.
  • Read & Run Marathon – Will have its final mile race on April 19, we are expecting around 200 participants.
  • Spring Fling – Will be held on April 25.  We will have 40 games, prizes, light-ups, and various food vendors, along with many rides this year.  Moye meal deals will be available, and all Moye students will receive free armbands.  We need about 150 volunteers to make this event work, please contact Kelly Cooper if you can help.
  • Staff Appreciation – Luncheon will be on May 6, volunteers to donate food are needed.
  • Volunteer Breakfast – Will be given on May 7 by the Moye staff for all those who have volunteered this year.
  • Smokey Bones – Fundraiser will be on May 7 from 4-8pm.  Cindy Williams is looking for 3 people per hour to volunteer to help during this event.
  • Auction – Our date has been changed to November 15 because the 22nd was already taken.

4.  Old Business

  • Mary Jean Hutchinson spoke with us about the upcoming plans for the field.  Current plans include grading the land and installing a walking trail.  We are looking into placement of the Baseball field and soccer goals.
  • Redistricting- Discussed this as an opportunity to make our new school’s PTOs great, and as a chance to be pro-active in our attitudes.
  • NetSmartz – Presentations went very well; we had about 100 people attend the two informational meetings.  Tips presented there will be placed on our website.

5.  2008/09 PTO Positions – The Board formally nominated the following people for next year’s         
     Board positions:  President – Julie Jones Kloeckner            Vice President – Julie Ziegler
                                 Treasurer – Melissa Dreyer                       Recording Secretary – Jina Loduca

    We are still seeking persons interested in the positions of Corresponding Secretary, Auction  
    Chair, and Yearbook Chair.  Voting for next year’s board will be held at our final meeting on
    May 13, and absentee ballots will be available in the office beginning April 29.
                                 

6.  Newsletter – This will be the last newsletter of the year.  Deadline for submissions is April  
     18.

7.  New Business –We are looking into the details of the Weather Bug program.  This is a  
     program that we might wish to obtain for our school.

 

Meeting adjourned at 1:20pm – there were 17 members in attendance.

The next, and final 2007/08, PTO meeting will be held on May 13
at 7:00pm in Library.
