2006-07 Moye PTO
General Membership Meeting Minutes
November 14, 2006
- Meeting called to order at 7:06pm by President Kathy Smitherman, in the intermediate art room.
- Minutes from the October meeting were read, Robert Lawton moved to accept the minutes, and the motion was seconded and approved.
- The Treasurer’s Report was given by Teresa Pridmore. A correction was made to change #### to check number 1552, Kerry Scinta moved to approve the report, it was seconded and the report was approved.
- Committee Reports
- Auction Results – For the first time in our auction history, ticket sales have covered our auction expenses. Our grand total profit was $50,097!!!! Most receipts have been turned in; a few may be outstanding and could slightly adjust this figure.
- Spirit Sales – Kerry Scinta reported a $100 profit.
- Retail Fundraisers - TGI Friday’s will have Moye nights on Mondays in November and we will receive 10% of purchases those nights.
- Holiday Boutique – Had 37 booths this year, and reported a profit of $1,486.
- Hands and Hearts –The Christmas Tree for donating hats, gloves, and scarves will be set up on November 20.
- Teachers’ Wish Tree – Will go up in the Library on November 21.
- Santa’s Cottage – Will be held in the Primary Arts room during the week of December 11 during each class’s library time. Library volunteers are asked to help with the Cottage during their normally scheduled volunteer time. Plenty of other helpers are also needed. Please call Kathy Swartzenberg at 622-0608 if you are available.
- Old Business
- PTO 501c3 – Bylaws are being reviewed to see if they will mesh together and if they meet the 501c3 requirements. Cost for this review is $100. The cost of filing for the 501c3 is $500, and that cost will be divided among the participating PTOs.
- Child Care will be provided for the December PTO meeting.
- New Business
- Budget Process – The Board will be preparing the budget at the next PTO board meeting on December 5. Committee Chairs need to submit their budget requests prior to that time. Wish lists from Teacher Teams are due by November 27. Our next General meeting will be focused on reviewing and approving the budget.
- Read and Run Marathon – Robyn Gaydon/Robin Eiskant will be heading up this event in which students will read 26 books, and run 26 miles, with a race day to be held at Moye for the last 1.2 miles. Medals and shirts will be awarded to students who meet this goal. Registration forms will be due November 30, and the final event will be held in April. We would like to do this event with no fee to the students. Funds were requested to cover the costs of approximately $8.00/child. A final amount, based on eligible participants, will be determined closer to the race’s end.
- Family Reading Night – Will be held February 21. Local Author Marilyn Cansella is scheduled to present daytime assemblies and an evening presentation. This year’s format will be changing; suggestions for the event may be submitted to Kathy Becherer by January.
- Mrs. Burns introduced the attending Teachers, requested more name tag sleeves and clips, and asked us to check into copyright permission for performance recordings.
