    General Membership Meeting Minutes

    April 10, 2007

  1. Meeting called to order at 11.30am by President Kathy Smitherman, in the intermediate art room.
  2. Minutes from the February and March meetings were read, Kelly Cooper moved to accept the minutes, and the motion was seconded and approved.
  3. The Treasurer’s Report was presented. Kerry Scinta moved to approve the report, it was seconded and the report was approved.  The check book balance as of 4/9/07 was reviewed.  Re-allocation of some of our unused funds was discussed and the following items were voted upon and approved:
    • $750.00 for spring field trip transportation.
    • $3200.00 for field trip transportation for next year.
    • $52.00 for sound system cables for Mrs. Vosburgh.
    • $825 for 2007 fall classroom parties.

We also discussed purchasing risers for the school at a cost of approximately $10,000.  This will be tabled until the May meeting.

  1. Activities Update
    • Smokey Bones results - $500.00 profit.
    • Scrapbook Factory results - $50.00 profit
    • Book Fair/Art Show – Begins April 16th, will be a buy one get one free sale, Family Night and Art Show are on the 19th.
    • Read and Run Marathon – Has 185 participants, t-shirts and medals have been ordered.
    • Spring Fling – Kelly Cooper will need volunteers to help with this event.
    • Chuck E. Cheese fundraiser – Will be held April 10.
    • Staff Appreciation – Will be on May 3.
    • Johnny Rockets fundraiser will be held on May 7.
    • Campbell’s Soup Labels – The funds raised from this year’s collection are being used to purchase 4 microscopes for the school.
  1. 501c3 Status Update – The board is proposing that we go together with the rest of the schools in our district and set up one set of bylaws that we all operate under.  We discussed the reasoning behind doing this and explained the proposed bylaw changes. The current bylaws are available to be viewed on the PTO website.  Changes to the bylaws will be voted upon at the next meeting.
  2. Newsletter - The next newsletter will be the final one for the year.  The deadline for submissions will be April 20.
  3. New Business
    • Crop Walk- This event raises money for the local food pantry. It will be held on October 14, 2007, with meetings held over the summer.  We will have a speaker on this event at the May general meeting.
    • Kerry Scinta informed us that Barnes and Noble will have an in-store fundraiser date available for us the weekend of November 30- December 2.  We asked her to reserve that date for us for next year.
  4. Meeting Adjourned at 12:30pm.

Speakers for the 9th grade center gave a presentation following our meeting.

Next meeting will be held May 8 at 7:00pm
